Memory Strands
Lets say we could all only really live in the present. No past. No future. Only the here and now.
This has to be one of the most terrible ideas ever.
First of all, you wouldn't even be able to find your own house, because that's information from the past.
Secondly, I wonder how you're going to explain that to, for example, the Black community. Why are you so worried about the past? Why not just return to the here and now?
How normal people deal with the past
Let's, for the sake of argument, imagine we could actually pull memory strands out of the brain, containing your worst memories. If you could literally see them outside your head, you would immediately understand why:
- Pretending there is only the here and now is a bad idea.
- You don't want to erase the past or your memories.
- You look at the past and learn from it.
So, in a sense, you want to relive it within yourself until you have made peace with it.
