The whole point of imagination is that you can use it to make something important. If you start running, you create all these stories within yourself until you actually find it important (or you don’t). You need your imagination for that.
If you take medicine, you basically alter how important you find something. Fine. But the reason why you are daydreaming is because you have trouble understanding why something is important. You can still learn that, but that’s why kids are distracted 24/7.
Daydreaming and imagining are super important.
Have you ever wondered why, at 11 o’clock this morning, you thought about that one thing from the past?
And why didn’t you think about it at another moment?
It’s because the body is an incredibly energy-efficient machine, and humans have impeccable timing.
It happens exactly at that moment because that is when you are cruising at the perfect energy level to reflect on that thought at that moment.
Happy people choose very simple ways to look at reality.
For example, you can use this question:
Is it good for me?
Will I be happy spending 7 hours a day on social media? No.
Will I be happy never using social media? Also no.
Is exercise healthy?
Yes.
Is exercising for 2.5 hours every day healthy?
No.
So the answer lies somewhere in the middle.
By dividing reality into simple questions like this, you can quickly learn to filter things out.
But be careful: these are only the things you already know. There are also a lot of things that haven't been thought of yet.
Creating something new—that's what makes me happy.
Consciousness Is a Levels Game
The more you think, the better you get at thinking. And progressively more difficult and “harder” your thoughts become.
Your body doesn’t do that to mess with you. It does it to teach you valuable lessons.
Since there are notoriously hard levels in consciousness:
| Hard levels | What you learn |
|---|---|
| OCD | Separating yourself from the rhythm of your thoughts. |
| Starting all thoughts the same | That you can look at things from a different angle. |
| Thinking that overthinking is bad | One of the hardest levels. Here, you get tricked into thinking that you shouldn’t overthink. Sometimes you should overthink; sometimes you don’t. |
| Thinking that negative thinking is bad for your body | You have a huge weakness in your game if you believe this, because you then try to avoid it. |
| Thinking that thoughts need to be true | They don’t. You can believe whatever you want. |
| Letting others do the thinking for you | Consciousness is like the jungle. The point is that you get strong enough to form your own opinions. You decide what you find good. |
| Buddhism | One of the hardest, since everything in Buddhism seems to make sense. |
| Being ashamed of what you believe, or once believed | Be proud of what you believe. Even if you once believed that you were being chased by helicopters. |
| Becoming too head-oriented | A lot of power is in your body. |
