Why Eating the Forbidden Fruit Was the Correct Decision
We need self-awareness to prove our own freedom. Without self-awareness, we wouldn’t know whether we had free will or not. Everything would still be, but it wouldn’t be the same.
The snake was really a higher power in disguise. I still like to call her Eve. There is a reason we became aware of our nakedness. It wasn’t a mistake. Call it feminine intuition.
I also would like to add that curiosity and making mistakes are things that never get punished in this universe. And otherwise, they can ***.
I've noticed that some people who end up in psychiatry tend to put themselves last. Maybe this is something they learned or something like that.
You can practice this by, at certain moments during the day, making your own ideas, thoughts, and feelings as important as possible. There is nothing selfish about that. This is how you learn self-worth.
Talk to the scared part of yourself.
Trust that you will develop a good sense of what is important.
This is a balance thing. Work is important, but family is too. And your health. Trust the process: you can steer your life toward what you find important and ditch the things you don’t.
For people with ADD, this can take longer because we are naturally more balanced in their interests in different things. This has nothing to do with being distracted.
Intuition is one of the most beautiful things there is. For me, it means seeing all the possible solutions to a problem. Multiple paths. And then choosing one, or more.
It also has something very feminine about it: an elegant form of intelligence. There is something in it like “understanding” without having the words to describe it.
First, make everything you think and feel extremely important. More important than you might think it is right now. As if you are exaggerating it within yourself. This can mean that something someone else considers unimportant, you still make important within yourself.
The difficult thing about work is that you can easily reason yourself into thinking: “How important is what I’m actually doing?”
You might be better off pretending that your work is the most important thing anyone has ever done. You make it important because you find it important yourself. The funny thing about this is that you eventually discover that the things you make important actually are important. But you only find that out later.
I like writing. In fact, AI could probably take over my work. Still, it is better that I do it. Why? Because I make it important myself. I enjoy doing it. It is healthy. What does it really matter who can do the work best?
It would be much better if we accepted that we are less capable than AI at some things, but that it is simply healthy to do something you enjoy. It keeps you sharp.
So spend your energy on the things you make important.
These are not only things that are fun, just to be clear. Some unpleasant things within yourself are extremely important.
I tried to get the biggest ego in the world
I once read something about Buddhism in the vein of: “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”
Why do you think that is? Do you think Mother Nature likes to trick us into seeing a different reality until we find ‘normal’ reality again?
The magic is in between. A concept you can use is ‘relative importance’.
When you grow up, you find things that happen within you relatively important. When you are older, you find other things relatively more important.
So, you learn to find yourself important first, and the things you like to do, and then you naturally shift towards other things again. This is perfectly normal.
Or, like me, since I can’t stand concepts like ‘ego’, I decided to make all my thoughts and feelings only about myself – just for kicks and giggles. But it’s actually important to appreciate yourself first before you appreciate others.
I’m always jealous of people who have exceptional self-worth. They don’t care about how they perform. They just carry that with grace.
