Well, That Depends on the Situation
In a lot of philosophies, this mistake is made:
X preaches only love.
Y preaches that everything changes all the time, and that we become attached to it.
Both are, well, not very impressive.
Some situations require you to be unreasonably mad. Some situations require you to lose your temper and cry. That’s the only way to learn, to grow, and to make progress.
Saying, “You’re just clinging to it,” is like pretending that you are not there. I am here. And I am unreasonably mad. Maybe I am going to regret that in a few minutes, but right now, I feel right, and I don’t know why. And you are there too.
Saying that we should love each other unconditionally — I hope nobody really said that literally — but if they mean, “We should try to see each other’s perspectives a little bit more,” that sounds a lot more sensible.
