Why I Don’t Like Positive Thinking
Let’s say you walk into a bathroom. It’s the most beautiful bathroom you have ever seen. It has beautiful tiles, a rain shower, and subtle tones.
In the corner, there is a leak.
Where do you focus first?
I would always start with the most negative aspect of the room. That’s also how I work within myself: I start with my darkest and most negative thoughts, not with the “I love everybody” ones. Or the ones about my dog, who has fluffy ears.
You always start with the dark, so you start with negative thinking first. Trying to think positively is for people who only want to stand there in awe. Or worse—you’re a Buddhist, and you just stand there and observe: “I distance myself between my positive and negative thoughts. All suffering comes from your desire to fix the leak.”
Sure, honey.
