Thinking in Terms of Relationships

A brain works with relationships. This means it’s about the relationship you build with something. It’s easy to mess this up.

For instance, you can have a normal weight and still have an unhealthy relationship with food. For example, when you count calories and are at an ideal weight, you can still be messed up.

The problem with a one-dimensional relationship with something—food and calories, for instance—is that it pushes other relationships away. When you only think in terms of calories in food, you don’t feel what your body actually needs. You push those relationships away. Or you push emotions away.
