This is not the reason why people use the term ‘guardian angel’. It is more symbolic.
If you have an accident and survive, the things you give as reasons for why you survived are only within your field of observation:
-
Good car
-
Airbag
-
Wearing a seatbelt
If you peel everything back, these are not the only reasons why you survived. Your mother raised you well, which is why you wear your seatbelt. You also survive because your body was strong enough. ‘Survival’ is a relative concept. Maybe a part of your fear died in the process.
It is only because you make it so binary and reduce it so much that your reasoning seems to make sense.
‘Guardian angel’ is more like saying, ‘How incredible life is, and how much we don’t know.’ It is not about there literally being a guardian angel nearby.
I have had a guardian angel with me many times because people explained things to me earlier in life that were very relevant at the time, and those things probably saved my life. Simple tips from people who were further along than I was. So in that sense, guardian angels do exist.
In order to help other people, you have to get to the selfish levels first.
You have to first-hand experience what it is like to have psychosis. An anxiety disorder. Depression.
Then you know what it is like, and how to fix it. This is what drives me insane about psychology. If you are talking to some random guy who cycles twice a week and has a healthy relationship with his parents (we know the type), and you feel he has never ever experienced anything in life, it is sometimes hard to relate to. Especially when you used to live like an addict, thinking that you were being chased by a helicopter.
Do you know what the fastest route to ego death is? Think about somebody else for three seconds. But don't worry. It is normal to go through levels of extreme selfishness first. You have to learn it yourself first.
The problem with consciousness is this: you can't explain in words what is possible in this universe. It is so unbelievably magical. It's way more "Harry Potter" than you think it is.
If you look at reality from a slightly different angle, thoughts come over you like waves. It's like walking on an ocean.
Think of it like this: from one angle, your body consists largely of water. So, in one dimension, you can move through reality as if everything is water, liquid.
