Sometimes it is good to be sad. And sometimes you don't know exactly what you feel.
For me, it’s important to go back to that deepest feeling of what me is, what my emotion is. It’s normal to lose it for a couple of years, as long as you find it back.
I like that life feels like being a hundred percent engaged in something, and then it’s like it drops you back on earth. For me, it’s being all in, all out.
If you get used to that rhythm, it’s not scary anymore. You kind of get lost in thought, and you know you will return to the ground at one point.
The feeling of being alive
I don’t like the passive stance we have when it comes to mental health.
I think there is no difference between mental and physical health. They are both health.
Just like you can fix your physical health by eating clean and working out, you can fix your mental health by addressing emotions proactively within yourself. Always go for the dark emotions first: that’s where the most profit is. Do not shy away from those feelings.
You can draw, cook, write, talk to someone, whatever.
Feelings in themselves are not bad. It’s not bad to feel lonely. Most feelings are perfectly normal.
Energy is about your whole body.
Your brain is a small part of yourself.
We get this confused all the time.
Children don’t have ADHD. They have a lot of energy. That’s something different.
A lot of physical energy.
A lot of creative energy.
If you have a lot of energy, and someone says, “sit still,” you get more energy on a smaller surface area. So your head gets busier faster. That has nothing to do with ADHD.
Can that be annoying? Sure. But if you learn how to deal with it, it’s the best thing there is.
I honestly don’t understand why everyone doesn’t have a busy head. Something is changing in your body all the time. You register that. Every second, your feeling of hunger changes. And all the billions of other feelings in your body.
So, by definition, you should have a busy head.
I have a feeling most people have fallen asleep.
The problem with brain scans is that you're forever going to find certain patterns. That's because people have a lot of energy and use their brain differently. So you get different patterns. It's not the other way around. The pattern gets woven into the brain; the brain doesn't dictate.
So if I have a lot of energy, I'm naturally going to try to maintain my posture because the rest is sitting still more. You can see these patterns in the brain, not the other way around.
Why this is so important to understand: if you think you have an anomaly in your brain, you are going to behave differently. You take a hit in confidence. This is going to affect your whole life, these diagnoses.
But if you understand the order of things:
- You are your whole body first, your whole energy.
- And your brain is the result of that.
Then you can actually fix things.
Ok, but why is the brain so important then?
If I take out the railway station in between two cities, all traffic in between is going to get messed up. So the brain indeed is very important, but not in a commanding way, in a ‘passing through’ way.
I am not a big fan of Eastern traditions about consciousness, but they had one thing completely right: we are absolutely not our brains.
